Interior Design Trends From 2017 That Are Here To Stay

Date

This year we saw a few interior design trends take their departure. It’s time to say goodbye to marque letters and Edison bulbs with the dawn of 2018 and welcome a fresh twist on a few of our favorite new trends from this year that are sure to last.

Jewel Tones:

Jewel tones splashed onto the scene late this year and they are not going anywhere anytime soon. These bright colors can breathe life into any interior design style that you fancy. Whether your lean towards traditional or live for the modern twist, jewel tones add a playful sophistication to any space. The best part about these is they can be mixed and matched to create an elegant space that is unique in every way. They also play well with a number of different finishes from antiqued bronze to a perfectly polished gold, jewel tones bring out the dramatic flare in the details. If you want a pop of color from an accent pillow or a full-on splash with an accent wall, jewel tones are the perfect option to tie a space together.

Shower Niche

Gone are the days of slippery hands chasing soap bottles around the edge of the tub and carefully balancing the weights of your shampoo and conditioner on the sleek, wire shower caddy that’s not quite sturdy enough to withstand the impact of your liter sale finds. The shower niche is an up-scaled, modern version of the soap dish that really only serves as a mount for shaving your legs. The waterproof, heavy duty, built-in storage is a dreamy shower addition that provides both function and flare to your bathroom. We have seen this as a popular addition to every single one of our clients’ bath remodels this past year, and as we move into the new year we are expecting bold tile come into play. Hand painted tiles are really taking off, and they can add a bit of an artistic feel to your space.

Free-standing Bath Tubs:

These were a hot ticket item for bath remodels this year as well, and who could argue with the look and feel of this beautiful sculptural piece? A free-standing bath tubs screams luxury and creates a unique space that makes your bathroom stand apart from just any bathroom. A free-standing tub also allows for an added design element to tie the space together. Where built-in alternatives limit your creative liberties, a free-standing tub can transform your bathroom to a romantic, rustic retreat or an elaborate, luxurious getaway. As this item grows in popularity, designers are getting more creative. We can expect to see the free-standing tub quite literally break the mold and move into a space where more unique materials, like concrete, are the standard.

Just because the year is ending doesn’t mean the fun has too. These are a few of our favorite 2017 interior design trends that are sticking around through the new year.
