If you haven’t heard of High Point Furniture Market, let me give you a brief overview of what it is and its role in shaping the interior design industry. High Point, North Carolina, has been dubbed “The Furniture Capital of the World” for good reason. Most furniture made in the United States is produced in this area or within the region. In fact, over 2,000 different brands show each season at market! I will detail more about the importance of USA-made furniture later in this article. But first, I’ll share my experience at market and talk about what designers and buyers get to preview each spring and fall.
Exploring High Point Market for the Best Colorado Home Furnishings
This fall was my first trip to High Point Market (HPMKT). I can’t believe I have been in this industry for so many years and just now made my first trip. It was exciting, educational, and admittedly a bit overwhelming! My goal was to preview trends and have the opportunity to sit, test, feel, and move within as many lines as possible so I can recommend the best lines for each of our clients, depending on their preferences and needs moving forward.
You see, often, when we are designing a home full of furniture, we may not have access to the exact sofa, chair, or recliner that we would like to curate for any given space. We can usually take our clients to sit on a piece like the selected item. However, with Colorado a bit of a furniture desert, we often cannot provide examples of some of the best furniture options to our clients. As I was given tours of each line, I could sit, recline, plop down, and ask questions about construction methods, fabric treatments, customization options, etc. Best of all, I took hundreds of notes on how each piece felt within each brand. I now have a database of information so we can specify furniture for all body shapes and sizes and lean into customization when it means giving you the best option – whether you like a firm seat or a casual, cloud-like experience.

2025 HPMKT Trends That Inspire
Colors and Finishes That Work for Your Colorado-Modern Look
I saw plenty of warm, rich tones, earthy hues, and calming neutrals. What I didn’t expect to see was so much white! Warm, earthy hues blend seamlessly into our Colorado luxury style. Can you guess the color that takes the win for balancing it all seamlessly? Green! Yes, green is still grounding and keeping us connected to nature in almost every application. (I also saw this at the kitchen and bath show in February of this year.)
So, what about white? White works well in the Denver metro area but doesn’t fit well into our luxury mountain getaways. It’s not that whites won’t perform well or be easy to maintain, but rather that white has a way of being a bit stark. For our clients who love a lighter tone on a large piece of upholstery, we would recommend finding a light neutral that has more texture mixed in to keep it from being a focal point with high contrast.
What I loved most about the color trends I saw at HMPKT was mixing unexpected colors to create a palette that tells a sophisticated and custom-tailored story.

Materials and Textures That Read Rocky Mountain Modern
The hottest texture can be summarized in one word: Menswear. The application of tweed, houndstooth, herringbone, and even corduroy was everywhere I turned. Of course, this texture was presented in the same rusty, earthy, and green tones mentioned above. I am into it! These textures create a rich and warm tactile experience that is not too distracting and could undoubtedly provide interest subtly. We recommend applying this texture to the largest piece in the room and mixing in other pieces using materials like leather and solid-color velvets while limiting patterns to promote balance.

Shapes and Silhouettes That Soothe
Everywhere I turned, soft curves and elliptical forms wooed and soothed me. As we have recently seen on the building side of the interior design industry, arches have become the favored way to create a sense of calm within a home. I believe curved, round, and wavy furniture forms are the furnishing industry’s response to the architectural trend we have come to admire.
If the softness of this look stands out to you, we recommend leaning in! Pairing an elliptical cocktail table with a curved sofa enhances the experience for a soft and nurturing space.
On the other hand, if you are not quite ready to commit to the curves, we found plenty of ways to dip your toes into the trend while keeping the frames square. Channel tufted interiors on the arms of a sofa, for example, provide the softness of the trend while retaining the rectangular structure on the outside of the piece—the best of both worlds!

Desirable Details
Another element that drew me in? Unexpected details! Twists at the end of a chair arm, leather-strung sofa backs, rope, crystals, fluting, and more. I certainly enjoy a good surprise, and I can see adding one or two little wonders in each room to add flavor and visual interest and spark conversation. A specific tactile experience within these details adds a sense of delight.
I also noticed that many motorized pieces have the added luxury of incorporating charging stations. It is the little things that count.
